In addition to our Santa Monica Canyon Civic Association website, emergency and traffic information, events involving the canyons and/or our neighbors, new restaurants, businesses and galleries, and other community discussions will always be found here. We will soon be linking to Canyon School, Rustic Canyon Park, Will Rogers State Park, the Pacific Palisades Community Council, the Marquez Cemetery, the Upper Santa Monica Canyon Homeowners Association and other community organizations connected to our wonderful coastal canyons.

Historic Canyons


We are part of the original Spanish land grant to the Reyes-Marquez families - Rancho Boca de Santa Monica - whose family burial plot, the Pascual Marquez Family Cemetery - still lies within Santa Monica canyon. Recent efforts by the Marquez Family and the canyon community have resulted in a historic designation for the family cemetery and a successful fund-raising campaign to acquire land in front of the family plot for the community.     I am the Grandson of Vincent Marquez. Mother was Margaret Marquez Schinsky. Currently reside in Indio, CA . Executive Director of the Coachella Valley Art Center.
